President Geoffrey N. Swinerton retired as Senior Team Leader (STL) for the FBI Miami Division SWAT Team and at the time was the longest-serving Senior Team Leader in the national FBI SWAT Program. Swinerton served as a member of the SWAT program for over two decades. In that capacity, Swinerton oversaw a 43-man tactical team, 10-person support staff and was the chief tactician for his Division. FBI Miami SWAT is one of nine enhanced SWAT teams nationwide, was one of 4 maritime response teams at the time, and is one of four Rapid Deployment Teams with primary responsibility for South America, Central America,  and the Caribbean in case of emergency response. During his time Swinerton and his team participated in over 1000 High Risk Tactical Operations.

 

Swinerton is a certified firearms instructor, sniper, senior tactical instructor, tactical tracker, and was the principal Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Miami Division of the FBI. During his tenure, he participated in 18 Orange Bowls, multiple BCS Championship Bowl games, multiple National Conventions, the Pro Bowl, NHL All-Star Game, 14 NBA Championship games, presidential debates as well as 6 Super Bowls. In addition, Swinerton regularly coordinated dignitary protection details and has done so for the last 4 FBI Directors and 7 different Attorney Generals both stateside and overseas.

 

During his investigative career with the FBI Swinerton focused on police corruption running multiple undercover operations, white-collar fraud, civil rights, and counterterrorism. Swinerton deployed to Guantanamo in 2003 where he served as the executive officer of FBI Operations as well as a deployment with 7th Special Forces Group in Mosul, Iraq in 2010 and 2011. Further Swinerton deployed to over a dozen different countries to support FBI Tactical operations or trainings.

 

Swinerton holds a Master’s from George Washington University in Political Management with concentrations in Lobbying and Issues Management and a Bachelor In Business Administration from the Citadel.
